C&DS - UK Retail - Mortgages - Team Leader - Testing

The Responsibilities
Purpose of the Role: Why does this job/ role exist, what
value does it add?
• UK Bank Delivery is responsible for the delivery of
technology service Programmes to the businesses that
make up the UK bank. TSI Retail is involved in delivering
Programmes / multiple projects in this area and there are
a few new Programmes / Projects getting started.
• This role will be responsible for having a complete
owner ship of testing stream for Mortgages application.
The role will report into Test Manager/Project Manager
and have a people responsibility for small to medium team
Activities: What does the jobholder have to do?
Involved in Life cycle of the project starting from
reviewing the Functional specs until the delivery to next
level of testing team and would comprise of :
• Requirements Analysis, creation of Test Strategy and
Test plan.
• Time and size estimates for project deliverables from
testing perspective
• Status on deliverables and risk throughout the project
• Creation of Defect Matrix, Causal of defects to which
could drive preventive action in future
• Involved in Reviews to ensure that quality goals are met
around project deliverables.
• Perform hands on activities as well but not limited to
Creation, review, execution of test cases.
Key deliverables: What are the key outcomes and what
does the jobholder have to produce (objectives)?
• Prepare Key test deliverables e.g. Test Strategy, Test
Planning, Requirements Traceability Matrix..
• Prepare and Review Test Execution/Completion reports.
• Defect Matrix
• Test Cases.
Scope of Role: What decision is the job/ role responsible
for?
• Carry out the Test strategy & Test Planning along with
project stakeholders.
• Prepare & review key testing documents.
• Defect management, reporting and Release
management.
• Manage testing issues and escalate to Project/Test
Manager as required.
• Manage time effectively to meet defined timelines and
keep Project/Test Manager updated.
• Share his technical knowledge across the team to build
up the skill level of the team as a whole.
People Management: What are the key responsibilities of
the job/ role?
• Good Team player along with leadership qualities to
lead a team of 5-8 people.
• Mentor team and ensure that the technical deliverables
are of high quality.
• Share his technical knowledge across the team and
guide / provide right direction as and when required.
Financial Management: What are the key responsibilities
of the job/ role?
• None
The Requirements
Person Specification
Essential Experience: What previous experience is
required to do this job/role?
Essential:
Minimum 6+yrs of experience in Testing Practice in the
software industry.
Well versed with the different testing methodologies/
techniques/phases and is capable of using the same as
per the need of the project.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Ability to accept and deliver assistance to meet
deadlines; self-directed, organized, capable of multi-
tasking, and willing to shift priorities to meet business
needs
Good Team player along with leadership qualities to lead
a team of 5-8 people.
Ability to interact and communicate with people of various
skill levels and diverse backgrounds.
Analytical and problem solving attitude along with able to
perform under tight deadlines and a booster for the team.
Must demonstrate a flexible approach towards work, and
ability to move across roles.
Desirable:
Experience in Banking Domain
Qualifications: What training or qualifications are required
to do the job/role?
Essential:
• BE / M Tech / MCA /PGDCA
Desirable:
• Certification in Quality Assurance
Technical Competence: What are the specific skills/ style
and abilities required of the job/ role?
Essential:
Experience in Manual as well as Automatic testing for
applications in financial domain
Root cause analysis of the defects and issues
encountered so as to learn from them for future releases.
Capable and experience of doing testing effort estimation
and planning using standard methodologies.
Well versed with the different testing methodologies/
techniques/phases and is capable of using the same as
per the need of the project.
Ability to lead a team along with a good team player to
perform hands on testing.
Desirable:
Experience in Mainframe/ETL testing
